Does God Still Love Me When I Slip Up?

Does God still love me when I slip up
“God loves me only if I’m at my best.”
“He loves me only if I’m perfect.”
“He’s pleased with me only if I’m obedient.”

Really? Is that what you believe? If that is true, many of us will never ever experience God’s love.

How’s that?

Because no matter how hard we try, we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Let’s face it…We are far from perfect. We are not always at our best. We can try to be obedient but there will always be moments when we slip up.

Does that mean God won’t ever love us?

Of course not.

God loves us even when we’re imperfect. He embraces us even if we’re at our worst.

No, I’m not trying to pull wool over your eyes. I have a Bible verse to back me up.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. ~ Romans 5:8

Did God wait till all of us are faultless before He sent Jesus down? Did He wait till all of us are perfect before allowing Jesus to die on that cross?

NOPE. He sent His Son to die for us while we were still sinners. That’s how He first loved us.

My friend, God is love. He can’t help but love us. And He definitely doesn’t keep score of the times we slip up. In fact, He can even make your mistake work for good. Haven?t you heard? God makes all things work for good.

He doesn’t wait for you to be good before He loves you. Just like the father of the prodigal son, He will run to you, embrace you, and shower you with kisses even if you falter, even if you fail.

Friend, God loves you more than you know. His heart is full of love for you. He is your heavenly Father. Your Abba Father. Your Daddy God.

So when you slip up, remember He still loves you. He doesn’t love you because you are good. He loves you because He is good. And when you feed on His love and His goodness, you will want to be good. You will want to be obedient. Because His love will simply bring out the best in you.
