He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. ~ Colossians 1:17, NIV
Seen one of those 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles? Imagine you tried to put one together. Now imagine you’ve placed 999 of the puzzles together only to find the last piece missing.
Have you felt this way on the inside? A hollow feeling. You seem to have it altogether but something is missing and you don’t know what. That feeling of being alive but not quite living.
Nothing excites you too much for too long. You smile but your eyes are not gleaming. You drift along day by day and every day is a blur. Every attempt and pursuit to fill the gap just ends up deepening that hole.
Micah 6:10 (MSG) aptly says, “No matter how much you get, it will never be enough—hollow stomachs, empty hearts. No matter how hard you work, you’ll have nothing to show for it?bankrupt lives, wasted souls.”
Empty heart. What exactly do you need to fill that gaping hole? Change of lifestyle? A better job? Deeper relationships? More material pleasures?
What if I told you that what you’re missing is a Person to fill that emptiness and hold your very existence together. The Person of Jesus. The One who existed and is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And you know what? He loves you. Come on, He gave you His life remember?
If you allow Him, He will show you exactly who He is to you to fill that hole in your heart. He doesn’t just have that missing jigsaw puzzle piece. He is that missing piece. Once you find Him, you feel complete. You smile satisfied. You are at peace.
And how do you allow Him? Just ask Him.
