Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. ~ Psalm 100:4
Two simple yet powerful words. And the more you use them, the more results you see.
Just look around you. Won’t you agree that people are naturally friendlier when you thank them? That they are likely to pay attention to what you’re saying to them when you start saying thanks?
In fact, you can even rescue a difficult situation by saying a simple “thank you”. And that was what Jesus did!
Right after He said those 2 little words, 5000 hungry people ate to their fill with just 5 loaves and 2 fish. In another instance, the very same 2 words also miraculously brought a dead man out of the grave 4 days after his burial.
Incredulous? But both are true stories from the Bible. One of abject impoverishment. The other of bleak hopelessness.
Can you imagine being one of the 5000 who were hungry? Or one of those standing in front of the dead man’s tomb lamenting his early death? What would you have done? Would you have said thanks to God before seeing the miracles?
I doubt. How can anyone possibly thank God when one is depleted and despondent? If you didn’t curse or swear, you most probably would have ended up griping, whining or crying.
Not Jesus. He didn’t play the blame game. Instead, He thanked God. And it wasn’t just a silent thank. He made sure He said it loud enough for everyone to hear. Which can only mean He’s showing us an important truth here—that giving thanks is the key to prayer success!
No wonder Psalm 100:4 tells us to enter with the words “Thank you”. It’s the password to getting God’s attention and receiving His amazing power for your breakthrough.
But here’s a reality check: in the face of adversities, most of us are likely to doubt and question. Why God, why did you allow this to happen? What are You trying to show me? What must I do to make it right?
Noticed Jesus didn’t ask any questions though? He didn’t see a need to. Because He saw God’s supply of solutions and He simply thanked God to access those supply.
Maybe you’re in a desperate spot today. Perhaps you’re still waiting for your miracle. Friend, instead of worrying or be discouraged, why not lift up your hands to God in thanks?
Now let me qualify by saying that while the Bible says “Thank You” is a password, it is by no means a formula. It is an attitude. For a heart of thanks is a tender one. One that is ready to receive.
So come to God in a posture of thanksgiving. Know that you don’t have to beg Him for answers. You don’t have to plead for your miracle. Simply thank Him, claiming that your breakthrough is on the way. Your provision is coming. Your healing is manifesting. Your relationships are improving. Your restoration is ahead.
And even when nothing seems to be happening, just keep thanking. Because when you do that, you’re are declaring that God is with you, He is faithful and He is for you! And surely, not maybe, He’ll make all things work together for your good!
