“Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior.” ~ Isaiah 43:2-3 MSG
P E R S O N A L.
This is the word I want to share with you today to fire up your relationship with God and take it from lukewarm to passionate.
God doesn’t just want to be known as God to you. He wants to be known as your personal God.
“Is that possible?”
“Is that even scriptural?”
I’m not surprised if you’re doubtful. After all, most of us are only familiar with verses where God had told His people: “I am God, your God” or “I am the Lord your God.
I don’t know if those verses mean anything to you but it did nothing for me. Not until I read the Message version recently and I discovered how the word “personal” was used to describe God in Leviticus 26:11–13:
“I’ll be your God; you’ll be my people. I am GOD, your personal God who rescued you from Egypt…”
As I went on to search further on the web, I found two other verses that also included the word “personal”.
Numbers 15:37-41 MSG
“I am your God who rescued you from the land of Egypt to be your personal God. Yes, I am God, your God.”
Isaiah 43:2-3 MSG
“Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior.”
That ONE word completely blew my mind.
We’re talking about God of the universe, God of the world. This same God wants me to see Him as my personal God. And that makes Him my personal Savior. My personal Redeemer. My personal Healer. My personal Provider. My personal Protector….
WOW. SO. A M A Z I N G.
It should have been enough for God to state that He is my God. Just think: My dad. My mom. My friend. My husband. My wife. My child. My dog. My cat. Okay, you get my drift…
Yet “My God” never light a bulb for someone as dense as me. It had to take an additional word “personal” to add a whole new perspective for me, to know how much God wants to draw me close to Him.
MY. PERSONAL. GOD.
Friend, today I encourage you to repeat those three words over and over until you realize this truth:
The God who holds the universe in His hands wants to be your personal God. He wants to belong to you, just as you belong to Him. His love for you is up close and personal for He is saying to you today:
“I am God. Your personal God.”
